All Sports

Philosophy

In the All Sports program, students in the early stages of athletic development are given a platform to develop a strong athletic and sports skills foundation.  This comprehensive introduction to sport is a must for students at the beginning of their athletic careers. The All Sports program provides the proper athletic FUNdamentals, a high level of daily physical activity, and a screening and streaming system that allows each child to discover their natural abilities and help them set a strong base for future athletic success.

The All Sports program is supported by experts in youth athletic development, and follows the guidelines set by initiatives such as Canada’s Long Term Athlete Development Plan. Everest coaches and trainers involved in the All Sports program are certified and experienced in his/her field of expertise.

The Program

The All Sports program focuses on three key areas:

Swimming Our Learn to Swim curriculum is designed to introduce students to swimming fundamentals, water safety, and various swimming techniques. Students with little or no swimming experience will find the program fun and rewarding. Students will be able to develop at their pace as the program delivers a solid and manageable skill progression curriculum, from one level to the next. Intermediate and advanced students will learn and practice the various swimming techniques and build their cardiovascular, respiratory, and muscular and nervous systems.
Skating Our Learn to Skate curriculum is designed to stream students towards advanced hockey or figure skating programs. Students will focus on skating basics, forward and backward skating, strokes, strides, glides, turns and jumps, edge work, balance, and body control. Within a short period of time, students will develop superior skating skills, which is the foundation of top hockey players or elite figure skaters.
Sports Our Sports curriculum incorporates two main key concepts central to the development and success of young athletes: Sports skills and athleticism. Sports skills are skills that must be mastered in order to successfully participate in a specific sport. Students are taught sports-specific skills by our sport-specific experts. Through practice and a “hands-on” coaching environment, students drastically accelerate their sports skills.Athleticism incorporates the fundamental skills of running, jumping, throwing, catching, kicking, hitting, overall movement, core stability, flexibility and motor skills. These skills are developed in fun and creative ways through play, through free and organized activities. A gymnastics-based fitness curriculum focuses on developing each student to their maximum speed, strength, explosiveness, quickness, agility, balance, proprioception, and coordination.

Students in the All Sports program will develop their skills and be exposed to at least the following sports as well as some intra/extra mural competitive events:

  • Swimming, Skating, Tennis, Soccer, Dance, Gymnastics, Golf, Fitness,
Baseball, Lacrosse, Volleyball, Basketball, and more
