JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES

The Athletic Director (AD) is in charge of all athletic programs at Everest Academy.

PROGRAM MANAGEMENT

  1. Define a long term Vision and annual Mission Statement for the athletic programs at Everest Academy.
  1. Define the annual curriculum goals for each athletic activity at the school.
    1. Document the curriculum
    2. Measure its delivery
    3. Produce suitable program report cards for Students and Coaches
  1. Define annual student enrollment goals for each program and a set of recruiting activities to achieve these goals.
  1. Recruit, set goals and manage the athletic coaching team.
    1. For major programs, appoint Athletic Directors to be responsible for their individual program.
  1. Define an operating budget for the Athletic program overall
    1. Work with Finance to establish a budget envelop and set certain P&L goals on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
    2. Includes equipment, uniform, facilities, coaching, travel and other costs. Should take into account any revenue opportunities
    3. Establish processes and procedures to create autonomy with the program
    4. Produce monthly reports which includes remediation goals if budget goals are not being met
    5. Establish key supply contracts in a cost-effective fashion for each program as needed.
  1. Manage the logistics of all programs. Where appropriate, delegate tasks to the lead program coach while making sure School standards and efficiencies are met
  1. Report regularly on the success of the athletic program, including risk points and suggestions for remediation.
  1. Represent the School with any supply and service partners. Recruit new partners as needed to sponsor or otherwise support key program initiatives.
  2. For each program, work with the coaches to establish the desired athletic achievements for the participating students (e.g. drafts, scholarships, personal development)

ATHLETIC DEVELOPMENT

  1. Where appropriate, adopt industry standard best practices.  Document and set Everest-specific best practices in other cases.
  1. Establish performance metrics for each program. Ideally they would be measured each Athletic term and reported appropriately to the students and the school through the use of the EOLC Report Card system.
  1. Establish three to five key goals for each program each year. Work with the coaches to implement those goals, measure their achievement. Report on the success of achieving the goals on a quarterly basis.
  2. Establish Everest All Sports as the best all-around athletic development program for youth between grades 1-6.

Other Key Responsibilities and Objectives

  1. Form one or more key partnerships which can ultimately lead to program sponsorship.
  1. Establish preferred relationships with similar programs at other schools to promote exhibition and friendly competition.
  2. 3-5 years of experience working in an Athletic role with program responsibilities
  3. A prior career as an elite athlete in one or more of the Everest sports programs
  4. Prior experience working in a school setting is preferable
  5. A bachelors and masters degree in education or alternatively an area related to athletics is preferable
  6. Knowledge of NCAA athletic programs and general knowledge of the U.S University system.
  7. Strong interpersonal skills.
  8. Strong written and oral communication skills.

Job Qualifications

  1. 3-5 years of experience working in an Athletic role with program responsibilities
  2. A prior career as an elite athlete in one or more of the Everest sports programs
  3. Prior experience working in a school setting is preferable
  4. A bachelors and masters degree in education or alternatively an area related to athletics is preferable
  5. Knowledge of NCAA athletic programs and general knowledge of the U.S University system.
  6. Strong interpersonal skills.
  7. Strong written and oral communication skills.

Compensation

Compensation package includes an annual base salary, a bonus plan based on achieving certain objectives, a weekday lunch program and an annual athletic membership at the Forza Fitness complex near the Everest Thornhill campus.

The successful candidate will also be part of the student recruitment Ambassador program.
