Frequently Asked Questions about The Everest Academy Experience

Do we need to wear school uniforms?

Yes, academic and athletic uniforms are part of our school culture and help promote a proud and confident outlook for everyone at Everest. Uniforms are purchased directly from Everest.

Will I compete against other schools or teams?

Yes, prep and travel teams have regular games and tournaments throughout the school year. We will also participate in recruiting tournaments in the US and Canada to help gain exposure for our students as part of their post-graduation plans.

Can I still play on my rep team in the evenings and weekends?

Yes, we encourage you to continue to play on your teams and compete with them as appropriate. Our coaches can adjust individual training schedules to co-exist with those of your teams so you are not overworked.

Is Everest similar to Prep schools in the US?

Everest is modeled after European, Australian, and American schools that focus on developing skills at the highest levels. There are some prep schools in the US that reflect our values and programs but our S.E.L.F. platform is unique to Everest.

Is a Busing service available?

Yes, Everest provides a full door-to-door busing service available to all students who need it. Busing costs are established at the start of each school year and are based on the number of students using it.

Are meals provided at Everest or do I need to bring my own lunch?

Everest provides a full meal plan as part of its tuition program. The meal plan includes at least two snacks per day plus a full healthy lunch prepared by Everest’s own chef. All students are encouraged to participate in the meal plan as part of their overall personal development.

If I stay in residence, what activities are available during the evenings and weekends?

Your house supervisor will help you plan regular individual and group activities such as going to the movies, bowling, golfing, and shopping. Toronto is a great place for entertainment, and your house supervisor will ensure that your stay with Everest is an enjoyable one.

What academic courses do you offer?

Our accredited teachers are certified to offer most all of the standard Ontario curriculum. Our academic advisors will review your academic record and help you plan an academic path for post-secondary success.

What are the academic expectations at Everest?

Everest students are expected to maintain the highest possible academic standards through dedication to personal excellence. Small class sizes and a dedicated staff will help you reach your academic potential regardless of your current level of achievement. The prep teams set out minimum academic achievement as part of the standards desired.

Do I need to bring a laptop to school?

If you do not already have a compatible laptop, Everest can help find you a laptop at a competitive price that is configured for school purposes.

If I attend Everest, will I automatically receive a US scholarship?

We are dedicated to helping you attain your academic and athletic goals. Our comprehensive S.E.L.F. platform will greatly enhance your chances of going on to the next level, both in the US or in Canada. Your scholarship chances are directly related to your level of effort and commitment to excellence.

Do I have to be an elite athlete to attend Everest?

No, you do not need to be an elite athlete to attend Everest. Everest offers a variety of programs for the dedicated student at all levels of performance. The options in both athletics and music provide students with a wide range of options and the opportunity to customize a program according to individual preference. Fitness is a big part of the Everest culture and every student participates accordingly. If you want to become an Elite performer, Everest is certainly the place where this goal can be realized.

What criteria do you use for acceptance at Everest?

Candidates are assessed using 3 main criteria: 1. Academic history; 2. SKILL dedication; and 3. Personal character. Everest students are chosen based on their desire to reach their true potential.

What clubs are offered at Everest?

You will have the opportunity to participate in various clubs, including: student council, graduation committee, year book committee. Everest also creates new clubs based on the interests of the students each school year.
