Our school program is specifically designed for student-athletes like yourself who are either looking to the NCAA for post-secondary scholarships or C.U.F.L.A for top tier lacrosse programs in Canada.  As part of our annual recruiting plan, we are looking to continue to add to our  Junior Varsity Prep Program for the 2017/2018 school year where Everest student-athletes participate in showcase events in front of many of the leading NCAA lacrosse programs and coaches.

The Everest Prospect Day is scheduled for Friday, May 26th, 2017.

Clem D’Orazio – Director – Lacrosse Program


As the Lacrosse Director, Clem D’Orazio brings over 25 years of lacrosse experience and over 10 years of coaching experience to Everest Academy.  Clem is a highly respected lacrosse coach with the Brampton Excelsiors Major Lacrosse Club, Newmarket Redbirds Minor Lacrosse Club and the U19 Team Ontario Lacrosse Club. Clem’s coaching background includes being the assistant coach with the Brock University Men’s Field team from 2009-2011, where the team won one national championship and was a finalist twice. In 2011, he was a part of the Markham Ironheads Junior B OLA coaching staff of the year. He was the head coach of the 2012 – Midget Team Ontario, where the team captured the gold medal. In 2013, he led the U19 Team Ontario men’s field team to a gold medal and followed up in 2014 with a silver medal. Also in 2014, Clem was the coach of the Newmarket Redbirds Bantam team where they won an Ontario Provincial ‘B’ Box Championship.

As a member of the Brock University lacrosse program 2003-2008, Clem won 5 national championships as a player. He also played Sr. A for the Ajax-Pickering Rock. Clem graduated Brock University with a Bachelor in Physical Education and a Master of Science in Education from Medaille College. Clem’s teaching is based around giving the student-athlete the best opportunity to learn the necessary skill to succeed in post-secondary schooling. Clem is an accredited OCT teacher and a full-time member of Everest Academy staff.

Kyle Buchanan, Junior Varsity Head Coach

Kyle is currently in his 5th season professionally with the New England Blackwolves of the National Lacrosse League and is also serving as team Assistant Captain for the second season. Kyle was drafted in 2013 and has had stops in Washington and Philadelphia before landing in New England. Additionally, Kyle won the 2015 NLL Sportsmanship Award.

Outside of the NLL, Kyle plays for Team Scotland, where he captained the Scottish squad to its highest finish ever in the 2014 World Championships (6th). At the tournament, he was top the top scoring midfielder (6th overall in scoring) and earned the President’s Team Award (2nd Team All-World). Before this Kyle spent 4 years at Division I Robert Morris University just outside of Pittsburgh, PA. He was a 3-time All-NEC Conference player and left the program as its leader in assists as well as the only player to hold spots in the top 10 of goals, assists, points, groundballs, and caused turnovers. Finally, Kyle was part of the President’s Cup winning, Sr. B National Champions, St. Regis Braves in 2013.

Kyle has a Bachelor of Arts from Robert Morris University and Bachelor of Education from York University, both in Social Sciences.

Ashley Rutz – Head Coach – Female Lacrosse/Elementary Teacher


Ashley Rutz has over 19 years of playing experience in both male/female field and box lacrosse. She has played at every level: Provincial, National, NCAA Division 1, OUA and OWL. For the past 5 years, she has been an assistant coach to the under 19 Burlington Chiefs Women’s Lacrosse Team, wining OWL coaching staff of the year in 2010. “I like to coach because of my love and passion for the game”. Ashley has been named assistant coach to the 2012 Women’s Under 15 Team Ontario.

Her coaching philosophy is centered a round work ethic and heart. Ashley herself attended a private institution in Baltimore Maryland. “Enrolling in St. Timothy’s School was the best decision that myself and my parents could have ever made both athletically and most importantly academically. It was a huge stepping stone to help me achieve my goal of playing NCAA Division 1 lacrosse and making that academically possible”. Everest Academy offers the tools that are highly individuated with unparalleled athletic recourses, guidance and support. Ashley graduated from Wilfred Laurier University with Bachelor of Contemporary Studies degree. She is currently working on her Master of Science in Education at Niagara University.


Michael Bentivegna – Lacrosse Program Coach/Elementary Teacher

Michael Bentivegna has over 23 years of lacrosse experience and has been coaching for over 12 years. Michael started coaching at Notre Dame High School in Burlington Ontario where they qualified for OFSAA 5 out of 6 seasons; 2 of those ending in bronze medals. In the fall of 2012, Michael led the Mimico U19 Lacrosse Club to a Division II Championship in their first year in the league. Michael is now the Head Coach and General Manager of the Oakville Buzz Jr. B lacrosse team, an assistant coach with the U19 Team Ontario Lacrosse Club which won a gold medal at the 2013 Canadian National U19 Championship and a silver medal at the 2014 Canadian National U19 Championship. Michael is also the Head Coach of the Oakville Rangers Midget AAA hockey team. As a player Michael has won two Canadian national championships; a Founders Cup in 2006 with the Oakville Buzz and a Baggataway Cup with the Brock University Men’s Lacrosse Program in 2009.

Michael graduated from Brock University with a Bachelor of Arts in History, and a Master of Science in Education from Niagara University and is a middle-school teacher at Everest Academy.

Goalie Coach – John Folley is the Founder of Resistance Lacrosse focused on the improvement of defence and goalie technical skills in Canada. He was a NCAA All American Field Goalie at R.I.T. He was the U19 Canadian National Champion Coach and in 2014 Team Russia Defence and Goalie Coach. John Folley brings a wealth of field and box goaltending knowledge to the Everest Lacrosse program.
