Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a full-time school program?
Yes, the student-athletes day will combine our ministry accredited academic schedule with both an on-ice and off-ice training experience designed to enhance the skill requirements of a hockey player.
Who will train the student-athletes in Oakville?
The training curriculum will be led by former NHL player Jamie Allison working in conjunction with the rest of the Everest coaching staff. Student-athletes will work with specialists in each of the key offensive and defensive areas and goaltenders will work individually with The Crease Academy, Everest’s partner for goaltender training everywhere.
Will busing services be provided?
Door to door busing services will not be available but the school will offer a shuttle service to supplement local transportation schedules and also help coordinate parent car pooling schedules so ride sharing can reduce the load of getting to and from the school facility.
What age groups / grades will the Oakville program offer?
In the first year, we are focusing on grades 5 through 8 and will expand the program as enrollment grows from year to year. The Everest Thornhill campus offers grades 1 through 12 and can provide an alternative to parents if the grade needed is not yet available at the Oakville campus.
If I want to switch between the Everest Thornhill and Oakville campuses, will this be permitted?
Yes, but any transfers will be subject to advance notice and planning given the importance of maintaining continuity in the academic setting.
If I don’t enroll for September, can I transfer from my current school to Everest Oakville during the school year?
Yes. Everest offers a full mid-term transfer program for all new students wishing to join in the middle of the school year. Everest takes care of all the transfer details including the student’s Official Student Record (OSR). For students transferring mid-term from another private school, special financial incentives are available to take into account that fees may already be prepaid. See Mid Term Transfer for more details.
