Principal Message

It brings me a tremendous sense of pride and joy to be considered a member of the Everest Academy team. Everest is providing me a hands-on opportunity to embrace the challenges of planning, building and creating an exciting and unique school model that combines the best of academics with key aspects of youth development. I am very excited by the S.E.L.F. platform and how it can be used to form the basis of exceptional young people in our society.As I head into my third year as Principal of Everest Academy, I have been extremely impressed by the level of administrative commitment, parental support, student involvement and staff dedication to building a successful school. As I visit classrooms and connect with staff, students and parents, I am overwhelmed by the warm, caring, respectful, inclusive atmosphere. My leadership plan continues to focus on building an ever-stronger educational platform that combines academic and athletic excellence, “whole student” development and a deep sense of school pride. 

Principal’s Philosophy

I believe that athletics provide a medium for learning, success, trust, responsibility, and self esteem for a significant number of students.

I believe that “whole person development” requires an enriched, caring, inclusive, safe learning environment and it’s our responsibility as adults to provide it.

To the high performing students of Everest Academy, our goal is to provide a challenging, stimulating, safe, supportive, learning environment where individuals strive to meet and exceed their potential. I look forward to meeting with you and your parents on an individual family basis and to establish individual education plans and whole student portfolios for everyone. We expect students to work hard to meet rigorous, achievable, educational goals and push their academic limits. Everest Academy students are also expected to conduct themselves in a cooperative, respectful, responsible manner at all times.

The faculty and staff of Everest Academy, supported by dedicated parents, are committed to creating a very special learning community, where every student is honoured and recognized as an individual as well as an integral part of a team. I look forward to continuing to lead and help to build this unique, customized, nurturing, engaging environment.

Principal’s Bio

Tim has been an outstanding teacher, curriculum leader, system leader and administrator with the Toronto District School Board for the past thirty three years. Over the past eighteen years, he has effectively managed all major principal portfolio responsibilitiesinvolved in the leadership of a school including; visioning, strategic planning, innovation, change management, vision into action and accountability.

Tim is a former intercollegiate athlete who has competed and coached at an elite level, in a variety of sports. He is a student/family centred educator with a strong background in character education, leadership development and athletics.

Tim and his wife Kathryn have two boys who graduated from an exceptional athlete/education program and have gone on to compete at the Canadian university intercollegiate level. Their daughter is a gifted dancer and currently studies at Canada’s National Ballet School.

Tim has coordinated student success initiatives, established student centred enrichment programs, designed and implemented student Character/Leadership conferences at the Board and Provincial level.

He has been chosen by the “Parent Involvement Advisory Committee” (P.I.A.C.) to deliver best practices, on “Model School Councils and Parent Involvement” He represented the Toronto District School Board as part of an executive leadership team that travelled to China, with the mandate to develop formal partnership agreements in terms of school twinning, teacher training and visa student exchange.

In June 2009, Tim was recognized with the prestigious “Pete Beach Award” for outstanding, lifetime contribution to high school athletics in the province of Ontario.
