S.E.L.F. Program – Skills
Everest Academy offers a variety of elite Skills development programs fully integrated with the daily schedule of our students. Skills development is divided into four separate 10-week terms per school year. Each term, students chose 1 or 2 primary skill development programs to enroll in from our catalog that includes Hockey, Baseball, Music, Golf, Soccer, Lacrosse, Elite Fitness and All Sports.
Students spend 4 days per week doing their chosen skill developments, working with Elite level coaching and trainers many of whom have reached the pinnacle of their sports including NHL professional hockey, Olympic baseball, National Lacrosse championships and more. Read More About Skills
S.E.L.F. Program – Education
Everest Academy offers a fully accredited academic program for grades 1 through 12 including the Post Grad (“Victory Lap”) program. Teachers are OCT certified and many are also the coaches for the Skill development programs mentioned above. We also provide many of the required special needs programs including ESL for foreign language students and the various support programs for students with IEPs (surprisingly common in highly active students).
The school day runs from 8:40 am to 3:50 pm each day. Elementary students break for Skills development at 10:40 while secondary students start the day with Skill development at 8:40. We also offer a unique “Sleepy Teenager” academic only semestered program which runs from 10:40 to 3:50 each day.
The academic curriculum meets or exceeds the Ministry of Ontario Education standards. We offer all the relevant Language, Arts (including Music) and Sciences classes targeting University (or US College) streamed students. We also provide an integrated SAT prep program for those who are looking to the US for College or Athletic scholarships.
Everest Academy is also heavily involved in on-line learning and has fully deployed an on-line learning platform within the school environment. Students can stay in touch with Teachers, Classmates and materials from anywhere, anytime. This is especially useful for those student-athletes who are away from class from time to time to participate in an athletic event. The system also allows Parents to stay in touch with Teachers and their child’s class calendar. Students who become full-time athletes can continue their education with Everest Academy through this on-line system as well.
S.E.L.F. Program – Leadership
Leadership is an essential part of youth development. Everest Academy focuses extensively on developing the leadership qualities of its students. Leadership can take many forms, especially in an athletic setting where great leaders are sometimes quiet, leading only by example. Students are encouraged to get involved in the development of the school program, in helping other students succeed, in providing time inside and outside of class to further their own development. Each week starts off with a motivational session and each week ends with a sign of satisfaction as the students head home with achievement under their belt.
S.E.L.F. Program – Fitness
The Everest S.E.L.F. platform is unique in its ability to promote a lifelong love for health and fitness. Our athletic training and fitness program is deeply embedded in our philosophy that a strong body supports learning. From athletic training and personal fitness programs to our certified chef-cooked meals, Everest Academy exudes a positive, healthy environment. Everest provides the best opportunities and resources for today’s students to put into practice the key principles for performance training and health and fitness.
Every Everest student takes part in our athletic training and fitness program regardless of what level or type of Skill development they are pursuing. As part of the regular curriculum, students are assessed and evaluated 3 times per year and provided with customize training to maximize their progress. Advanced sports science is applied in developing sophisticated systems for the best results.
